New York, N.Y. – JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU) and the New York Jets have unveiled a bold new aircraft design to mark the start of the 2025 NFL season, extending a 15-year partnership between the hometown airline and the storied football franchise.
The plane, an Airbus A320 named “J! E! T! B! L! U! E!” after the team’s famous chant, features a striking green-and-white livery modeled on the Jets’ updated branding for the coming season. Its debut took place this week at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 5, where fans and players gathered for a celebratory event.
A Green-and-White Debut at JFK
The unveiling was staged at a gate-side celebration hosted by SNY’s Jeané Coakley. Current Jets players, including tight end Jeremy Ruckert and linebacker Quincy Williams, joined franchise alumni Marty Lyons and Erik Coleman to greet fans and take part in the festivities.
Passengers boarding the inaugural flight were treated to autographs, photo opportunities, and exclusive Jets gift bags stocked with shirts and hats. The event marked the official introduction of the airline’s third Jets-themed aircraft.
“This new livery is our third collaboration with JetBlue, and it’s a true celebration of our shared passion,” said Jeff Fernandez, New York Jets senior vice president of business development and ventures. “This plane embodies the energy and pride of our team and fans. It’s bold, fresh, and ready to soar into the 2025 season.”
Design That Travels
The aircraft swaps JetBlue’s signature blue for the Jets’ trademark green, accented with crisp white stripes that mirror the team’s jersey sleeves. Logos are emblazoned across the fuselage, belly, engines, tail, and doors, making the plane’s allegiance clear from any angle.
JetBlue executives say the design was created with the intent to stand out both at airports and in the air. “New York is our home, and no team captures its spirit like the Jets,” said Stephanie Evans Greene, JetBlue’s senior vice president of marketing and brand. “This livery is more than a design—it’s a tribute to our shared pride and roots. As the Jets take the field, this plane will fly high, representing our city’s passion every day.”
A Partnership Built Over 15 Years
The partnership between JetBlue and the Jets dates back to 2009, when the airline was named the team’s official carrier. A year later, JetBlue introduced its first sports-themed plane, “JetGreen.” That aircraft was followed in 2017 by an updated Jets livery.
Since then, the relationship has extended well beyond custom paint jobs. The two organizations have collaborated on joint marketing efforts, in-stadium promotions, and fan engagement programs. JetBlue has used its platform to highlight Jets-themed campaigns, while the team has leveraged the airline’s reach to strengthen ties with fans traveling across the country.
The new aircraft underscores the continued value of the partnership, combining visibility for the airline with a high-profile branding opportunity for the NFL team.
The Jets’ Broader Legacy
The launch of the “J! E! T! B! L! U! E!” livery also highlights the Jets’ broader identity as one of New York’s flagship sports franchises. Founded in 1959 as the New York Titans, the team is best remembered for its 1969 Super Bowl III victory over the Baltimore Colts—a defining moment in professional football history.
Today, the Jets play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and operate from the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park. The organization has invested in fan engagement platforms such as Jets Rewards and 1JD Entertainment, while also maintaining a focus on community service through the New York Jets Foundation.
That foundation supports youth football, education programs, and health initiatives, including partnerships with the Lupus Research Alliance and other nonprofit groups serving the tri-state area.
Looking Ahead
For JetBlue, the unveiling provides more than just a marketing boost. It is an opportunity to reinforce its identity as New York’s “hometown airline” and to strengthen connections with a fan base deeply tied to the city. For the Jets, the partnership offers a way to extend the team’s presence beyond the stadium and into airports and skies nationwide.
As the NFL season gets underway, the new aircraft will operate on JetBlue’s standard routes, ensuring fans and travelers alike will see the green-and-white plane on tarmacs across the country.
With its bold design and celebratory launch, the “J! E! T! B! L! U! E!” aircraft represents both the enduring partnership between JetBlue and the New York Jets and the city’s energy heading into the 2025 season.
