    Four proposals

Life Goals makes four concrete proposals based on the experience it has gained in recent years with the target group of socially vulnerable people. First, Life Goals calls for at least 75 percent of the efforts of the Neighbourhood Sports Coach programme to go to people with a low SES. An observer of the scheme showed last year that only 25 percent is now being spread to vulnerable people. The second proposal concerns legal responsibility, as advised by NLsportraad. De Groote points out in the letter that they are “not so much advocating a comprehensive sports law, but rather a legal anchoring of responsibility for efforts to get people with a low SES active.”

In addition to these two policy interventions, the letter also makes two proposals through which Life Goals itself could accelerate progress. For example, they suggest that all community sports coaches working with vulnerable people should be trained through their own social sports coach course. “Then community sports coaches are better able to use sport as a social tool and make participants more resilient rather than vulnerable.” Finally, De Groot calls for a structural contribution to the recently launched Life Goals Impact Fund.
