Simone Biles won the world all-around title for the sixth time in her career. The American scored 58.399 points, ahead of Brazilian Rebecca Andrade (56.766) and American Chiles Jones (56.332). Dutch gymnasts Itora Thorsdottir (54.098) and Naomi Visser (53.132) finished sixth and twelfth, respectively.

For Biles, this is her 21st world title overall and her sixth all-around title. Thus, she equaled the record of Japanese Kohei Uchimura, who won six world titles in the men’s all-around. The 26-year-old Biles won her first world title exactly ten years ago: gold in the all-around at the 2013 World Championships in Antwerp. It is already the 34th medal of her career, and no gymnast has medaled more before. This led to Biles’ feelings afterwards. At least, that’s how it seemed.

“You won’t believe me, but I had a speck of dirt in my eye. Really, that’s no excuse. I was fiddling with my eye for four hours, fearing it would get infected. I suffered from it too. Every time I looked at it it hurt. But of course I “Emotionally too, because ten years ago I won my first title here and now I’m here again. It means a lot to me.”

Biles actually led the American team to win the world title on Wednesday. The Americans won their seventh consecutive world title with 167.729 points. They remained ahead of Brazil (165,530) and France (164,064). With her gold medal at the country finals, the 26-year-old Biles captured the 21st world title of her career, and her World Cup medal tally now stands at 27. She has 21 world titles and has also won three silver and three bronze at the world championships. world Cup . She could still expand her honor roll in the apparatus finals.

Itora Thorsdottir barely made it to the final, but eventually finished sixth. Naomi Visser took 12th place. After Visser’s fifth-place finish in 2021, Torsdottir’s position, who already finished ninth at the Rio Olympics, becomes the second-highest ranking ever for a Dutchman.
