BUTTE — Not only is lacrosse watched and played in the 2028 Olympics, baseball and softball are also on the program. Good news for baseball and softball clubs like HSV Batters from Putte.
According to board president Wendy Van Steen, the news didn’t really come as a surprise. “It has been hoped for a long time that this sport will finally be seen as an Olympic sport again. It is actually a physical sport, sometimes more so than other current sports in the Olympic Games. They at HSV Batters hope that being an Olympic athlete will have an impact on Sports. “This sport is No. 1 in the United States and growing for the rest of the world. In recent years, a decline in the number of members has been observed throughout the Netherlands, with a loss of 30% compared to about 10 years ago. Hopefully this will increase as the sport becomes more discussed and in the news.
HSV Batters currently has 65 members, nearly double last year’s number. This is partly due to the start of recreational training every Thursday evening. He added: We hope to form this team into a comprehensive entertainment team for tournaments instead of competition. Since July, we have been playing Beeball again after a long time, the baseball game when kids are 5 to 11 years old. We hope to be able to field one or even two fully-fledged teams that will start competing from April 2024. HSV Batters is also committed to helping members with potential Olympic Games. “We encourage people to train as much as possible (internally and externally) especially if you have a preferred position on the field in mind. Self-development and performance are the most important in this sport.
