The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany have launched their official bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The joint bid letter must be submitted to FIFA on December 8.

The three football federations (KNVB, KBVB and DFB) have named their candidacy “Breaking New Ground” (BNG2027), to underscore their desire to organize “a pioneering tournament of an unprecedented level in the history of women’s football”.

Welcome

“The Belgian, Dutch and German associations want the participating teams and fans from all over the world to feel welcome and to be able to experience a celebration of football in a hospitable, friendly and safe environment,” a press release said. He added: “The matches will be held in a compact environment near the borders of the three countries. Therefore, the ambition is to limit travel and organize a sustainable tournament.

The three unions have been discussing a joint nomination since 2021. The Dutch Football Association has already allocated five stadiums at an early stage where matches could be played in 2027. In addition to the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, De Kuip in Rotterdam and Philips Arena in Eindhoven have also been registered. Enschede (Grölsch Vieste) and Heerenveen (Abbey Lenstra Stadium) are registered as playing cities. Germany has four host cities: Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne. Belgium has so far named Genk, Ghent, Brussels and Charleroi as host cities. In Brussels, it is not the King Baudouin Stadium, but the Lotto Park in Anderlecht.

FIFA is scheduled to grant the right to organize the 2027 World Cup next May. The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium face competition from three parties. Brazil, South Africa, the United States and Mexico (together) also want to organize the tournament.
