Verstappen achieved his main goal more than a week ago at the Qatar Grand Prix by winning his third world title. Since his Red Bull Racing team has already won the constructors’ title, the Dutchman can now focus on breaking several records.
This way he can improve his own record of fifteen Grand Prix victories in a single season this season. The Dutchman is currently 14 and could therefore equalize this weekend. Furthermore, Verstappen must take pole position in Austin to equal Sebastian Vettel’s record of pole positions (fifteen) in a single season in the last five qualifying sessions. Verstappen is now ten.
Verstappen has good memories of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, with the 26-year-old Dutchman having won a grand prix there the past two years. For Dutch racing fans, the date will be delayed three times due to the time difference with the Texas capital.
