The US Open is already over after one round for Greece’s Talon and Arantxa Rus. Botic van de Zandschulp reached the next round. The tournament will be held in New York from Monday, August 22nd to Sunday, September 10th.

    Doubles

Van de Zandschulp and Greek Path will play in doubles today. The Greek track can avenge its early elimination in New York in singles. He will play with his doubles partner Thanasi Kokkinakis against the American duo Alexander Fosina and Adithya Ganesan at around 5pm Dutch time.

Robin Haas is also active in doubles around 5pm Dutch time with his Croatian partner Nikola Mektic. They meet Croatian Nikola Kasic and Romanian Vlad Viktor Cournea. Van de Zandschulp’s duet with Austrian Philipp Oswald (8 p.m. Dutch time).

But most eyes are on Wesley Kohlhoff, who won Wimbledon last July and reached the US Open final last year.

Ross also gets a chance for revenge. In doubles, American Ashlyn Krueger and Angela Kulikov will face German Tatiana Maria. The match starts around 6:30pm Dutch time.

For Boutique van de Zandschulp, the championship in America is about recovery. Shortly after competing at Wimbledon, he injured his ankle. Van de Zandschulp travels to New York without great expectations, but he won his first match against Jordan Thompson, who was forced to surrender after the first set. He will face Dan Evans in the second round on Thursday.

This is Van de Zandschulp’s second participation in the tournament in America. Last year, he won his first match but lost in the second round. Then he lost in four sets to Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

    Arancha Rus

Ross played her first-round match at Louis Armstrong Arena, the second Grand Slam tournament court in New York. She competed against seventeenth seeded Madison Keys of the United States. Ross couldn’t fool: 2-6, 4-6.

Ross started the tournament in New York ranked 45th in the world rankings. Of the eight matches she played during her US Open career, she won only one. That was in 2011, when I reached the second round. Last year I failed in the first round. This year, the 32-year-old Dutch player is in good form, as she won the Hamburg European Open in July.

The tournament also ends after one round at the Greek Talon Track, No. 24 in the world. He lost the battle against top talent Arthur Fels. The five-game match lasted four hours. Both players suffered from cramps, but the Frenchman won 4-6, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5. “I struggled physically a little bit,” Greekpoor said in a chat with this website.

The Dutchman participated in the US Open twice before. His best performance comes from 2021, when he reached the second round. Last year, he lost in the first round to Argentine Federico Correa.

Venus Williams is ready, and opponent Carlos Alcaraz surrenders

Venus Williams has already been eliminated in the first round. The 43-year-old former US Open winner lost in five quarters of an hour to Belgian Grete Menin: 6-1, 6-1. Williams received a wild card.

Last year’s winner Carlos Alcaraz had an easy first round. His opponent was forced to succumb to injury after an hour of play. He will face Spaniard Lloyd Harris in the next round. Some top players will also take part later today, such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud.

Last year, the men’s title went to Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz. In the women’s race, Poland’s Iga Swiatek was the best. They defeated Casper Ruud and Ons Jabeur respectively in the final. The US Open can be watched exclusively on Eurosport in the Netherlands.
