Bent Viscaal’s entry into the European Le Mans Series did not go without reward. The 23-year-old from Twente finished fourth at MotorLand Aragon in Spain.

After his first strong season in endurance racing, Bent Viscaal made the switch from the ELMS European Championship to the WEC World Championship last winter. And due to the long summer break in the World Endurance Championship, there was room for something else for Fiscal. Since his former employer Algarve Pro Racing was short of a driver for the 4 Hours of Aragon, he was invited to make a one-off replacement.

    to enter

Viscala was able to enter the car with the number 20 competing in the LMP2 Pro/Am class. This car is usually driven by Tristan Vauthier, Fred Bourdad and Jack Hawksworth. Since the latter had to race in the United States, Fiscal was allowed to join the first two men. It’s up to Vauthier and Viscala to help Bourdad get into the saddle: the 58-year-old American is dubbed the Bronze Driver, or Amateur Driver.

Bourdad qualified ninth, and then Fiscal and Vauthier qualified during Saturday night’s race. Viscaal was denied the running of the race. The race director had reported up to four times that the Tukker’s car had crossed track limits, but this turned out to be an incorrect observation. It wasn’t Fiscal, it was Juan Pablo Montoya who crossed the border with his car right in front of him. With the unjustified driving penalty and the large backlog, it was important to make up as much progress as possible. It eventually finished fourth, the best result achieved by the starting number 20 car in the 2023 ELMS season.

“Happiness prevails,” Fiscal said afterwards from Spain. “Of course I’m tired of the unjustified driving penalty. But I felt this weekend in Aragon was a lot of fun.

The Fiscal racing season continues at the Fuji Speedway, which will host the sixth and penultimate round of the 2023 World Endurance Championship season in two weeks.
