Cricketers go straight to the T20 World Cup for the first time

Richard Powell, November 7, 2022

Thanks to their impressive performance in the T20 World Cup in Australia, Dutch cricketers qualified directly for the next World Cup, which will be held in 2024 in the West Indies and the United States, for the first time. So far, Holland has always relied on qualifying tournaments and preliminary rounds.

Orange ended the T20 World Cup with a surprise victory over South Africa. The Dutch won in Adelaide 158-145 and thus eliminated the first African team from the semi-finals. With Pakistan beating Bangladesh and India beating Zimbabwe, Team Orange finished fourth in the group. This venue entitles its holder to direct qualification, reports the KNCB Cricket Association.

Cricketers won the World Cup in the group stage for the UAE and Namibia, thus qualifying for the second round in which the major countries entered. The Orange team lost to the famous cricket nations of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, but then beat Zimbabwe on Wednesday. The national team concluded the World Cup with a trick against South Africa.

After a losing hit, the Dutch started hitting and made 158 high throws. Stefan Meiberg (37), Tom Cooper (35), and Colin Ackermann (41 not out) contributed significantly to this. Next, South Africa stuck at 145 points. Pakistan took advantage of the trick of the Netherlands and qualified for the semi-finals with India. New Zealand and England are ahead of the other group.
