Watch the Women’s Volleyball World Cup in Holland | Currently

The Women’s Volleyball World Cup will be held from September 23 to October 15, and will be held for the first time in the Netherlands. An overview of the program and possible path awaiting the Avital Selinger team.

The Netherlands will meet Italy in Group A, ranked sixth in the world ranking and the loser at the 2018 World Cup. The Netherlands is currently ranked 10th in the world.

On paper, Belgium (13), Puerto Rico (17), Cameroon (20) and Kenya (27) were the lowest competitors in the Dutch women’s volleyball group. The top four countries from each group qualify for the second group stage. The Dutch team plays all group matches at GelreDome in Arnhem.

Other groups

In Group C, the superpowers of volleyball are linked to the United States (the reigning Olympic champion) and Serbia (the world champion). In Group B, the countries Turkey, Poland and the Dominican Republic were the top favorites for a place in the second group stage. In the last group, the largest Asian countries China and Japan were placed under the leadership of the group Brazil. It is also remarkable that three countries from South America play in Group D. The group stage matches will be played in the Netherlands and Poland.

Second group stage and knockout stage

The sixteen nations that qualified for the second group stage will be placed in two groups of eight. Dutch volleyball players will play in Rotterdam from 4-9 October, if allowed to continue. The other eight teams play in Gdansk, Poland. In the second group stage, the best four nations from each group advance to the knockout stage.

In the knockout stage, there are eight teams that will play the quarter-finals. Two quarter-final matches will be played at Omnisport in Apeldoorn. The other two quarter-final matches will be played in Gliwice, Poland.

For the four remaining title candidates, the final stage of the World Cup begins on Thursday 13 October with the semi-finals. The final will be on Saturday 15 October in Apeldoorn. The bronze medal in Final B will be held at the same location.

Savile Coyle, Resink, Nolima, Dambrink, Timmerman and Dalderup made their World Cup debuts. Dalderup already joined the Dutch national team during the previous World Cup, but missed that tournament in 2018 due to a shin injury.
