Paul set a Diamond League record in the 400m hurdles ahead of the World Championships in Athletics

Fimke Ball set her fastest time of the season in the 400m hurdles in the Diamond League matches in Stockholm.

The 22-year-old Paul won her race due to force majeure. I started fast and got to the last in a row by a wide margin. Paul almost touched the last hurdle, but was ahead of Jamaican Rachel Clayton (53.90) and Ukraine’s Anna Rzhikova (54.33).

Paul was tenth faster than last year, when she set a Dutch track record. It was Paul’s eleventh Diamond League win and third this season. Only Sydney McLaughlin was faster this year. On Saturday she set a world record with 51.41.

The World Cup begins on July 15 and is held in Eugene, United States.

Joris van Gool was allowed to compete in the 100 metres. Lamont Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs, who withdrew shortly before the race, took the place. Van Goul sprinted to sixth with a time of 10.38 seconds. South Africa’s Akane Sempin was the fastest with a time of 10.02.

For Jessica Schilder, it wasn’t a party this time around. She has already set a national record five times this year, most recently at NK in Apeldoorn (19.68m) on Sunday. In Sweden, she finished fourth with a distance of 19.07 metres. The 23-year-old Volendam, ranked fourth in the world, only had to take on the world’s top three. American Chase Ellie won 20.48 metres.

Nadine Visser participated in the 100-meter hurdles. Hornsey, 27, has only been back on the court for a month after injuring his hamstring. Visser took sixth place, but gave only 0.3 seconds to the winner with 12.76. That was Jasmine Camacho Quinn, the Olympic champion from Puerto Rico.

Elvis Afrifa, Timir Burnett, Joris van Goul and Raphael Pogo won the 4x100m race, although this number did not count in the ratings. At 38.70 she was faster than Denmark by more than half a defeat.

Lake Claver had to get acquainted with her boss in the 400 meters, which also did not count, in the Polish Anna Kielpasinska (50.60). At 50.96, Klaver was second only to British Ama Pipi (51.80). The second Dutchman, Evelyn Salberg, finished fourth with a time of 52.92 seconds.

Armand Duplantis presented the highlight of the day in front of his audience. The Swede jumped 6.16 meters with the pole, the highest jump ever in the open air. The world record is 6.20 metres, and 22-year-old Duplantis became the indoor world champion in March.
