The brother of Alfred Schroeder, who recently left Barcelona in the footsteps of Ronald Koeman, came from Vitesse. He has been active at Arnhem since last summer as assistant coach Thomas Leach.
The 50-year-old Schroeder previously worked as an assistant for TSG Hoffenheim in Germany and Philadelphia Union from the United States. He has only worked as a head coach for amateurs.
“BEC Zwolle is a very nice club with a good vision that suits me and I am very happy with this opportunity,” said Schroeder. “The club is in rough weather of course, but I can’t wait to get started. We will all work together for one goal: to keep PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie!”
According to Artistic Director Mike Willems, Schroeder fits “perfectly” on the set up profile. “He has vision, drive and an innovative footballing personality. I am delighted that we were able to tackle Dick so quickly, so he could immediately stand up to the group from Friday.” So Zwolle’s new head coach is introduced.
Langler decided to resign on Tuesday. The 51-year-old, who returned to the club last summer, saw “very little perspective” on improving PEC Zwolle’s short-term performance. Led by Langler, the club from the capital of Overijssel has won only one league match this season, against Heracles Almelo (1-0) at the end of last month.
PEC is at the bottom of the Eredivisie with 4 points from 12 matches.
