The American Golf Association decided to stop using the Trump National Golf Club in Bidminster as the venue for the PGA Championship in 2022. The decision comes about a week after the storming of the Capitol.
Outgoing President Donald Trump’s special job was set as the venue for the PGA Championship two years from now in 2014. Due to last week’s events at the Capitol, the organization no longer feels it is justified to take action on the track in Bidminster, New Jersey.
“We found ourselves in a political situation that has nothing to do with us,” PGA Director Seth Waugh said in an interview. AP. “Looking at the tragic events of last Wednesday, we feel that we can no longer use Bidminster as a site. That is the only correct decision.”
A Trump Organization spokesperson says against ABC News Being “incredibly frustrated” with a PGA resolution. “We put millions of dollars into this project. They don’t have the right to cancel the agreement.”
Job Trump will be the flagship site for the first time
Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building in Washington last week, as the US Congress met to formally decide Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election. Five people were killed in the unrest, including a police officer.
It will be the first time that a major golf tournament in the United States has been played on a course owned by Trump golf enthusiasts. The PGA Championships are always held in May, after the Masters and before the US Open and Open.
The next edition of the PGA Championship will take place May 17-23 at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
