Before the arrival of COVID-19, this particular Saturday was shaping up to be one of the best things of the year in college football. Just remember the Marquee nonconference games that were originally slated for Sept.12, we had Ohio State – Oregon, Texas – LSU, North Carolina – Auburn, Tennessee – Oklahoma, Pennsylvania – Virginia Tech and Iowa – Iowa on the list. But the unique circumstances of this season eliminated each of those competitions from the schedule.
So when compared to what it would have been, Saturday might seem like a disappointment to some college football fans who were expecting the bigger confrontations. But given the way things have looked at times over the past two months – with the teams and tournaments eliminated from the season – the Saturday roster isn’t all that bad. The ranked teams will participate during all three waves of the games, with No. 1 Clemson, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 14 Texas, No. 18 North Carolina, No. 21 UCF and No. 23 Iowa mention each at its start.
In total, 10 ACC teams and seven big teams of 12 seasons are set to open on Saturday as Mike Norville coaches his first game in Florida, Notre Dame makes his ACC debut and Clemson launches his bid to regain the national title.
