Australia defeated India in the Asia Cup on Saturday. There was also a bit of professional league action on the field with Jordan Buss (Westerlo) and Aiden O'Neill (Standard).

There are plenty of international matches on the agenda this weekend, with the Asian Cup starting on Friday and the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday. Australia, one of the favorites to win the Asia Cup, began their tournament campaign against lowly India.

With Matthew Ryan between the posts, the Australian team clearly controlled the match. Barring a chance from Chhetri, India were harmless but held out for the entire first half without conceding. In the end it was a huge mistake from the goalkeeper that defeated India. Jackson Irvin took advantage of that in the 50th minute.

Record player on the field, Westerlo player with the goal

Westerlo left-back Jordan Bosz came on in the 72nd minute and made an immediate impression. He scored the 2-0 goal one minute after coming on as a substitute. Record midfielder Aiden O'Neill also came on in the 82nd minute.

With this win, Australia started the tournament perfectly. The rest of the second group consists of Syria and Uzbekistan, who meet later in the day.
