Aeromar ATR turboprops collide on ground


Two ATR turboprop passenger planes flown by Mexican Aeromar collided on ground, at the Mexico City International Airport in Mexico on Thursday early morning hours, local time.

The Aeromar ATR 72-600 with registration XA-UYY collided with the tail of a parked Aeromar ATR-42-500 with registration XA-UAV during a engine run up test.

The aircraft was undergoing routine maintenance when it jumped the chocks and rolled until hitting the parked ATR-42.

XA-UYY's port engine propeller, rudder and rear fuselage of of the XA-UAV were damaged in the accident.
The XA-UYY is a relatively new aircraft, delivered in 2017 while the ATR-42 is 22 years old.
