Pratt & Whitney begin PW1900G engine testing


Pratt & Whitney has completed assembly and is initiating testing of the first PurePower PW1900G test engine at its facility in East Hartford, Connecticut.

This is the fourth of our PurePower Geared Turbofan™ engines to enter into the test program, after the PW1500G for CSeries, PW1100G for Airbus A320neo and PW1200G for Mitsubishi MRJ.

The first PW1900G engine will initially conduct ground performance and operability testing before being installed onto the Pratt & Whitney 747-SP flying test bed located inMirabel, Quebec, Canadafor further testing.

The PurePower engine family has completed more than 19,000 hours and 34,000 cycles of full engine testing, including 5,000 hours of flight time.
